Indians living abroad are really perturbed over the growing popularity of Narendra Modi, the BJP’s prime ministerial hopeful. I believe our media is behind the image building of the man who is responsible for one of the worst riots in the history of India. It is high time, secular and liberal forces of India join hands to check the situation before it is too late. One thing is for sure that if Modi is elected the prime minister of the world’s most populous democracy, it will be a major blow to the secular credentials of India. I fear that the saffron brigade will try to change the overall image of the country and drive a wedge between different communities living in India. We must say no to Modi and his supporters. The media should also play its due role and must refrain from unnecessarily supporting Modi. This is not to say that one should malign him without any reason.
